RAC concludes on 10 opinions for harmonised classification and labelling

The Risk Assessment Committee (RAC) has evaluated 10 opinions on harmonized labeling and labeling. Among these 10 substances are present:

  • Acid Black 210 Na: is used in water based formulations mainly for industrial leather dyeing as well as in textile and paper formulation. The substance has a classification as a substance that causes serious eye damage and chronic environmental conditions.
  • cobalt: it has many uses as intermediate and for the production of magnets, batteries, alloys and catalysts. The substance has been classified as a sensitizer for the skin and respiratory tract and for chronic aquatic toxicity. The RAC agrees with the Netherlands proposal to classify Cobalt as a category 1B carcinogen with a specific limit of 0.01%, category 2 mutagenic, toxic for reproduction category 1B.
  • titanium dioxide: is an inorganic substance derived from minerals. The RAC does not agree with France's proposal to classify the substance as a Class 1B carcinogen but has been classified as a suspected carcinogen category 2 substance.
  • Metaldehyde (ISO): is an active substance used in plant protection products such as molluscicide. The substance is classified as a flammable and harmful oral solution. The RAC has decided to classify the substance as toxic to reproduction but not as toxic to target organs by prolonged or repeated exposure. The RAC also decided to classify the substance for chronic aquatic toxicity.
