REACH: UPDATE ABOUT SUBSTANCES SUBJECT TO LIMITATIONS

The European Commission has recently amended the list of substances subject to restrictions set out in Annex XVII of the REACH Regulation.

In particular, the modification concerns the (3,3,4,4,5,5,6,6,7,7,8,8,8-tridecafluorooctyl) silanetriolo and its mono-, di- or tri-O- alkyl derivatives (TDFAs).

The restriction means that the product can no longer be marketed to the public in spray products at concentrations equal or greater than 2 ppb in weight in mixtures containing organic solvents used as aerosol propellants.

The restriction enters into force from 2 January 2021.

Products containing TDFA intended for professional use may be marketed as long as they are marked with the indication "fatal if inhaled".
