REACH: TEST METHODS

The Regulation 2019/1390 was published in the Official Journal of the European Union (GUUE L247 of 09/26/2019), which amends the annex of Regulation 440/2008 which establishes test methods under the REACH Regulation, in order to to adapt it to technical progress.

New and updated test methods adopted by the OECD have been included in order to take into account technical progress and reduce the number of animals used for testing purposes.

The adaptation to technical progress contains eleven test methods: two new test methods for the evaluation of ecotoxicity and nine new test methods to determine toxicity to human health. These test methods consist of in vitro tests to determine skin and eye irritation / corrosion, skin sensitization, genotoxicity and effects on the endocrine system.
