TOYS: Directive (EU) 2019/1922 on the safety of toys

Directive (EU) 2019/1922 has been published which amends Annex II as regards aluminum.

Annex II of the Toys Directive establishes "Particular safety requirements" and in particular part III relates to "Chemical Properties".

In particular, the item relating to aluminum, for which the migration limits indicated below by the toys or their components must not be exceeded, is changed as follows:

CHROME VI:

2250 mg / kg mg / kg of dry, brittle, powdered or flexible toy material

560 mg / kg of liquid or sticky toy material

28130 mg / kg of material removable from the toy by scraping

The Directive entered into force on 9 December 2019 and will have to be adopted by the Member States by 19 May 2021 in order to apply its provisions from 20 May 2021.
