ECHA: map of the "chemical universe"

ECHA has published the "chemical universe" map which implements the action plan published in June and which includes approximately 21,000 substances that have been registered.

These substances are included in one of the following categories that indicate the regulatory actions in progress or under consideration on the same:

  • Management of regulatory risks in progress: substances with confirmed risks for human health and the environment.
  • Management of regulatory risks under consideration: substances that are currently under consideration for the management of regulatory risk (action 1).
  • Data generation: substances that require additional information to conclude if further regulatory action is needed.
  • No further action is currently proposed: substances for which the authorities have not currently proposed further regulatory action.
  • Not yet assigned: substances currently registered under REACH but not yet assigned to any of the above cases.

This categorization serves to help the Authorities to focus their actions.

ECHA will begin with the screening of substances provided for in the Action Plan based on this mapping.
