ECHA: REF-6 results of the project report on the classification and labeling of mixtures

ECHA in December 2019 published the results of the Forum Enforcement (REF-6) project regarding the classification and labeling of mixtures.

The aim of the project was to verify compliance and increase awareness of the dangerousness of dangerous mixtures that are used by consumers and professionals and that must be accompanied by correct labeling and SDS so that they are used safely.

The results:

  • 45% of the companies had at least one non-compliant mixture
  • 44% of the mixtures inspected were not compliant
  • 17% of the reported mixtures used an incorrect classification
  • 9% of CMR and respiratory sensitisers did not have the harmonized classification
  • 33% of the mixtures had incorrect labeling.
  • 33% of the safety data sheets checked did not comply with the requirements checked in the project.

Companies must therefore verify the compliance of their classifications, in order to provide correct information along the supply chain.
