Postponement to 31 May 2020 for the annual declaration of "Export and import of dangerous chemicals"

On March 31 of each year the deadline for the exporter to communicate to DNA (National Designated Authority) according to the PIC Regulation, the quantities of substances (as such, in mixtures and / or articles) exported to non-European countries in the calendar year preceding the current year.

Due to the Covid-19 emergency, some companies may have difficulties in complying with the annual reporting obligation, set out in article 10 of the PIC, for March 31, 2020.

The European Commission, recognizing these critical issues, has sent CEFIC the communication concerning the modification of the timing as follows:

  • Companies are required to submit their declaration on exports and imports made in 2019 until 31 May 2020.
  • Member States are required to approve declarations submitted by companies until 31 October 2020.

ECHA will shortly publish a notice on the ePIC portal to inform companies of the postponement of the declaration.
