Chemicals compliance
The REF-10 will focus on consumer products.
Inspectors could verify compliance with restrictions regarding CMR substances in textiles, D4 / D5 in rinse-off comset products or bisphenol A in thermal paper.
The controls will verify compliance with the presence of persistent organic pollutants defined by the POP regulation. Here, inspectors can check PFOA in water-repellent fabrics or ski waxes, or short-chain chlorinated paraffins in soft plastic items.
Communication along the supply chain will also be verified for articles containing SVHC in concentration> = 0.1% w / w.
The forum's BPR subgroup agreed that inspections in its BEF-2 project will focus on checking biocides for the presence of approved and unapproved active substances. The controls will cover all types of biocidal products and will include both products already authorized under the BPR and products covered by parts of the national biocidal product legislation (i.e. transitional measures under Article 89 of the BPR). Controls in the project may also include biocide control labeling, online advertising, verification that the active substance in the product comes from an approved distributor, verification of active ingredients by chemical analysis and targeted disinfectant controls.
The REF-10 and BEF-2 projects will both be prepared in 2021, with inspections carried out in 2022 and reports published in 2023.
