ECHA: 236 substances selected for a control of registration dossiers

ECHA has selected 236 registered substances that will be subject to a dossier check by the authorities of the Member States. The compe- tent authorities will evaluate the registration dossiers to decide whether an update of the data provided will be necessary.

Companies that have registered these substances will receive a communication from ECHA, the registrants in case of failings will have to update the registration dossiers. The objective of these evaluations is to identify substances that pose a risk to human health and the environment.

The list of selected substances is not made public because it derives from an automatic selection, substances must be verified to confirm a potential concern. If the need for regulatory action emerges, it will be published on the ECHA website, through the Intention Register (ROI) notification, the inclusion in the CoRAP list for substance evaluation or insertion in the Public Activities Coordination Tool (PACT) .

The four previous screening cycles identified 1084 substances, of which the Member States examined 714 substances and three quarters of these required an update.
