CLP: VIII ATP

From 1 February 2018 the VIII ATP Regulation (EU) 2016/918 of the Commission of 19 May 2016 (GU of the European Union L156 of 14/06/2016) of the modification, for the purposes of adaptation to technical progress and Scientific Committee, of Regulation 1272/2008 (CLP).

This 8th ATP updates among other things the CLP Regulation by providing:

  • the introduction of new P phrases, elimination of some already present and changes of order of the same
  • a new alternative method of classification of oxidizing solids,
  • a change to the classification provisions for the classes of danger of corrosion / irritation of the skin and serious eye damage / irritation and aerosols
  • clarification on the labeling derogation for substances or mixtures classified as corrosive to metals but not classified for skin corrosion or serious eye damage

Substances and mixtures classified, labeled and packaged in accordance with Regulation (EC) 1272/2008 and placed on the market before 1 February 2018 have an obligation to re-label and re-package in accordance with this regulation does not apply before 1 February 2020.
