ECHA: Call for evidence for microplastics

Please note that on March 1st, ECHA opened a "call for evidence", which will be open until 22.59 (Italian time) on 11 May, dedicated to:

  • the microplastics intentionally added to the products e
  • products whose uses involve intentional releases of microplastics into the environment.

With this public consultation, ECHA intends to collect as much information as possible (functions, characteristics and quantities placed on the market), by any interested party, on microplastics and their possible substitutes.
For consultation purposes, ECHA describes microplastics as "synthetic, water-insoluble polymer items smaller than 5 mm".
It should be noted that consultation is not limited to specific sectors, but to any type of product that contains intentionally added microplastics or from which intentional releases of microplastics derive.
