REACH: New database for substances in Candidate lists present in the articles by 2021

In 2019, ECHA will establish a database on the presence of hazardous chemicals present in the articles for waste treatment operators and consumers.

The database will contain information on substances on the candidate list, this information will be provided by companies that produce, import or sell items. Companies must present this information by the end of 2020.

The information should help operators to dispose of waste and recycling materials. The goal is to improve the risk management of chemicals during waste recovery and to promote cycles of non-toxic materials.

This new task reinforces the need for good supply chain communication as required by the REACH regulation, where companies need to communicate in the supply chain and notify the ECHA of substances in the candidate list in the articles.
