{"id":2926,"date":"2024-11-13T14:47:30","date_gmt":"2024-11-13T13:47:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ceprasrl.it\/sectors\/laboratory\/chemicals-compliance\/cosmetic\/conservanti\/"},"modified":"2024-11-27T18:14:36","modified_gmt":"2024-11-27T17:14:36","slug":"preservatives","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.ceprasrl.it\/en\/sectors\/laboratory\/chemicals-compliance\/cosmetic\/preservatives\/","title":{"rendered":"Preservatives"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The CEPRA laboratory performs analyzes on the main preservatives (parabens, mit, phenoxyethanol ..) used in cosmetic products, in order to verify that the concentration limits imposed by Annex V of Regulation 1223\/2009 are respected.<\/p>\n<p>PARABEN ANALYSIS:<\/p>\n<table style=\"width: 500px;\" border=\"1\" cellspacing=\"1\" cellpadding=\"1\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td>Methylparaben (CAS: 99-76-3)<\/td>\n<td>MAXIMUM ALLOWED CONCENTRATION:<\/p>\n<p>0.4% (in acid) for a single ester<\/p>\n<p>0.8% (in acid) for ester mixtures<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>Ethylparaben (CAS 120-47-8)<\/td>\n<td>MAXIMUM ALLOWED CONCENTRATION:<\/p>\n<p>0.4% (in acid) for a single ester<\/p>\n<p>0.8% (in acid) for ester mixtures<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>Propylparaben (CAS: 94-13-3)<\/td>\n<td>MAXIMUM ALLOWED CONCENTRATION:<\/p>\n<p>0.14% (in acid) for the sum of the individual concentrations<\/p>\n<p>0.8% (in acid) for mixtures, to the extent that the sum of the individual concentrations of propylparaben and butylparaben and their salts does not exceed 0.14%.<\/p>\n<p>OTHER LIMITATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS: Not to be used in leave-on products intended to be applied in the diaper area of children under the age of three.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>Butylparaben (CAS: 94-26-8)<\/td>\n<td>MAXIMUM ALLOWED CONCENTRATION:<\/p>\n<p>0.14% (in acid) for the sum of the individual concentrations<\/p>\n<p>0.8% (in acid) for mixtures, to the extent that the sum of the individual concentrations of propylparaben and butylparaben and their salts does not exceed 0.14%.<\/p>\n<p>OTHER LIMITATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS: Not to be used in leave-on products intended to be applied in the diaper area of children under the age of three.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>Benzylparaben (CAS: 94-18-8) is prohibited in cosmetic products (Annex II, item 1377)<\/p>\n<p><strong>MIT ANALYSIS<\/strong><\/p>\n<table style=\"width: 500px;\" border=\"1\" cellspacing=\"1\" cellpadding=\"1\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td>Methylchloroisothiazolinone (CAS: 26172-55-4)<\/td>\n<td>MAXIMUM ALLOWED CONCENTRATION<\/p>\n<p>0.0015% (of a 3: 1 mixture of methylchloroisothiazolinone and methylisothiazolinone) in the rinse products<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>Methylisothiazolinone (CAS: 2682-20-4)<\/td>\n<td>MAXIMUM ALLOWED CONCENTRATION<\/p>\n<p>0.0015% (of a 3: 1 mixture of methylchloroisothiazolinone and methylisothiazolinone) in the rinse products<\/p>\n<p>0.0015% in rinsing products<\/p>\n<p>NB: the two conditions are mutually exclusive.
