{"id":7797,"date":"2026-01-09T15:28:30","date_gmt":"2026-01-09T14:28:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ceprasrl.it\/?p=7797"},"modified":"2026-01-09T15:35:22","modified_gmt":"2026-01-09T14:35:22","slug":"switzerland-fdha-more-targeted-control-of-furocoumarins-in-cosmetics","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ceprasrl.it\/en\/sector-chemical-compliance\/switzerland-fdha-more-targeted-control-of-furocoumarins-in-cosmetics\/","title":{"rendered":"Switzerland, FDHA: More targeted control of furocoumarins in cosmetics"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On 9 December 2025, the Swiss Federal Department of Home Affairs (FDHA) updated the Cosmetics Ordinance, introducing more targeted control of furocoumarins in leave-on cosmetic products with potential exposure to sunlight.<br \/>\nThe maximum limit of 1 ppm is maintained, but now applies to the sum of eight specific furocoumarins, rather than the entire class of substances.<\/p>\n<p>The eight regulated furocoumarins are:<br \/>\n\u2022 Byakangelicol (CAS 61046-59-1)<br \/>\n\u2022 Epoxybergamottin (CAS 206978-14-5)<br \/>\n\u2022 Isopimpinellin (CAS 482-27-9)<br \/>\n\u2022 5-methoxypsoralen (5-MOP, bergapten; CAS 484-20-8)<br \/>\n\u2022 8-Methoxypsoralen (8-MOP, Methoxypsoralen; CAS 298-81-7)<br \/>\n\u2022 Oxipeucedanin (CAS 737-52-0)<br \/>\n\u2022 Oxipeucedanin hydrate (CAS 2643-85-8)<br \/>\n\u2022 Psoralen (CAS 66-97-7)<\/p>\n<p>The regulation applies to numerous leave-on products that may come into direct contact with sunlight (such as creams, lotions, gels, skin oils, sunscreens and self-tanning products, lip care products, make-up and aftershave products), while excluding, among others: perfumes, deodorants, rinse-off products and night care products.<\/p>\n<p>The requirement will come into force on 1st January 2026, with no transition period: non-compliant products may no longer be marketed, except for stocks already sold by 31st December 2025.<br \/>\nThe restriction applies to both Swiss and imported products.<\/p>\n<p>Contact us for further information.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On 9 December 2025, the Swiss Federal Department of Home Affairs (FDHA) updated the Cosmetics Ordinance, introducing more targeted control of furocoumarins in leave-on cosmetic products with potential exposure to sunlight.
