On April 20, 2026, Law No. 50\/2026 was published, converting Decree-Law No. 19 of February 19, 2026, which introduces the technical requirements for classifying plastic tableware as \u201creusable\u201d and therefore not single-use.<\/p>\n
The new rules will take effect on April 21, 2027.<\/p>\n
Plastic plates<\/p>\n
diameter less than 19 centimeters and weight greater than 45 grams;
\ndiameter between 19 and 24 centimeters and weight greater than 80 grams;
\ndiameter greater than 24 centimeters and weight greater than 110 grams;<\/p>\n
Plastic cutlery (forks, knives, spoons, chopsticks)<\/p>\n
weight-to-length ratio greater than 0.5 grams per centimeter;<\/p>\n
Straws for food use<\/p>\n
weight-to-length ratio greater than 0.5 grams per centimeter;<\/p>\n
Beverage stirrers<\/p>\n
