CLP - Beryllium, Cadmium, Formaldehyde, MOCA and Arsenic Acid are added to the EU list of Limit Values for carcinogens

The Directive 2019/983 of 20 June 2019 again modifies Directive 2004/37 / EC about the protection of workers against the risks deriving from exposure to carcinogens or mutagens.

The modification consists mainly in the addition to Annex III, which shows the limit values of carcinogens, of the following substances:
· Cadmium and its inorganic compounds,
· Beryllium and its inorganic compounds,
· Arsenic acid and its salts and inorganic compounds,
· Formaldehyde,
· MOCA or 4,4′-methylene-bis (2 chloroaniline).

Furthermore, by 2021 the EU Commission undertakes to evaluate further modifications, or other regulatory instruments, to ensure the safety of workers exposed to dangerous drugs, including cytotoxic drugs.

The provision, which comes into force on 10 July 2019, must be implemented in Italy by 2021, amending Legislative Decree 81/2008.
