The Regulation (EU) 2019/1021 concerning persistent organic pollutants has been published in the Official Journal. The 2004/850 regulation dealing with the same subject has been repealed.

The objective of this Regulation is to protect human health and the environment from POP, in such a way as to prohibit, eliminate the manufacture, marketing and use of substances subject to the Stockholm Convention

The Regulation introduced some definitions, it was aligned with the REACH Regulation to ensure consistency between the different actors. ECHA has been entrusted with some tasks and some simplifications have been introduced on the methods of communication and monitoring.
