ECHA: Better communication of hazardous substances in products

The ECHA pilot project showed that 12% of the inspected products contain SVHC substances.

88% of the suppliers of these products do not provide their customers with sufficient information on SVHC substances, companies must improve their knowledge of the products they supply to their customers and better communicate information so that products containing extremely problematic substances can be used in safety.

405 companies were inspected in 15 countries and 682 articles were checked. 84 (12%) of the 682 articles contained SVHC substances in concentrations higher than 0.1% by weight.

The controlled products included clothing, footwear and home textiles; wires, cables and electronic accessories; plastic or fabric floors; wallpaper; and other plastic and rubber products.
