CLP: Proposals for harmonized classification for 8 substances

Public consultations on 8 substances on which a harmonized classification is proposed.

Uses include: catalysts, intermediates, products for the production of paper, fabric and leather, lubricants and working reagents.

The substances are:

  • di-n-butylamine (CAS 111-92-2). Proposal: H226, H301, H311, H330, H314B, H318, 335. The substance is already present in Annex VI. The substance is currently in Annex VI of the CLP with the classification as H226, H302, H312, H332. For the substance, uses mainly as a formulation and as a technological adjuvant (catalyst) in the production of rubber (vulcanization) are reported.
  • triethylamine (CAS 121-44-8). Proposal: H225, H302, H311, H331, H314A, H318, H335. The substance is already present in Annex VI The substance is currently in Annex VI of the CLP with the classification as H225, H302, H312, H332, H314A, H335. The substance is used e.g. as a catalyst in polymerization, in paints, inks, toners, adhesives, in the production of paper, fabric and leather, in the treatment of gas, as a reagent, in mining chemicals and in foundries.
  • 6 - [(C10-C13) -alkyl- (branched, unsaturated) -2,5-dioxopyrrolidin-1-yl] hexanoic acid (CAS 2156592-54-8). Proposal: H319, H360FD. The substance is used in hydraulic fluids, lubricants, greases and release products and metalworking liquids.
  • 6- [C12-18-alkyl- (branched, unsaturated) -2,5-dioxopyrrolidin-1-yl] hexanoic acid (EC 701-162-1, CAS -). Proposal: H360FD. The substance is used in hydraulic fluids, lubricants, greases and release products and metalworking liquids.
  • 6- [C12-18-alkyl- (branched, unsaturated) -2,5-dioxopyrrolidin-1-yl] hexanoic acid, sodium and tris (2-hydroxyethyl) ammonium salts (EC 701-271-4, CAS -). Proposal: H319, H360FD. The substance is used in hydraulic fluids, lubricants, greases and release products and metalworking liquids.
