ECHA: Harmonized classification and labeling proposals and two restriction proposals

The Risk Assessment Committee (RAC) has adopted fourteen proposals for harmonized classification and labeling, as well as a proposed restriction on lead firearms. The Committee for Socio-economic Analysis (SEAC) has adopted two final opinions on restriction proposals.

LEAD IN FIREWORKS: The Committee for Socioeconomic Analysis (SEAC) has consented to the proposal to limit the lead and its compounds in firearm shots to be fired with a rifle inside a wet area or where the gunshot would have landed inside in a wetland due to the death of waterfowl after swallowing the gunshot.

DIISOCIANATI: SEAC has adopted two final opinions to manage the use of diisocyanates in the workplace, mainly through the training of workers. The goal is to prevent respiratory sensitization among workers.

PVC LEAD STABILIZERS: limit the use of lead stabilizers in PVC articles. The proposal is mainly aimed at the items used for the construction (pipes, floor coverings, shutters).

The committees also discussed and agreed seven draft RAC opinions and five SEAC projects on six applications for the use of chromium (VI) substances.
