Chemicals compliance
The eighth Forum enforcement project (REF-8) will focus on online sales of substances, mixtures and articles. One of the reasons for this attention is the high rate of non-compliance found in the pilot project of the Forum on online sales. It is planned to include restrictions and labeling obligations for hazardous chemicals. The project will be prepared in 2019 and implemented in 2020, with the report expected to be published by the end of 2021.
The forum also agreed that in 2020 pilot inspections will focus on the authorization of chromium VI and other substances. The inspectors will turn to companies that use potentially dangerous substances without having requested authorization. They will also check that the license holders and their downstream users comply with the permit conditions.
During the meeting, the Forum members also discussed the preliminary results of the REF-5 project on exposure scenarios, safety data sheets and implementation of risk management measures and operating conditions. The aim of the project is to monitor communication in the supply chain and the consistency of extended safety data sheets with the content of chemical safety reports. The project also examines whether the risk management measures recommended in the exposure scenarios are effectively implemented in the workplace.
