CONAI: changes in the Environmental Contribution for paper, glass and wood

CONAI has resolved a change in the Environmental Contribution for paper and glass packaging as of October 1, 2023, and a reduction for wood packaging as of January 1, 2024.

Below is the schedule of changes:

PAPER: From October 1, 2023, the Environmental Contribution will increase as follows:

PAPER BAND 1 Contribution increased to €35/tonne
PAPER BAND 2 Contribution increased to €55/tonne
PAPER BAND 3 Contribution increased to €145/tonne
PAPER BAND 4 Contribution increased to €275/tonne

 

GLASS: From October 1, 2023, the environmental fee will decrease as follows:

GLASS Contribution decreased to €15/ton.

 

WOOD: From January 1, 2024, the environmental fee will decrease as follows:

WOOD Contribution decreased to €7ton.

 

Regarding flat rate/simplified procedures for imports of full packaging, CONAI stipulates that:
– As of October 1, 2023, the rates to be applied on the total value of imports will decrease from 0.12% to 0.11% for packaged food products, while the rate for packaged non-food products will remain the same (0.06%);
– The fee by flat-rate calculation on the weight of imported goods packaging only will increase from 59 to 70 €/ton from October 1, 2023, and to 69 €/ton from January 1, 2024.
