Cosmetic ingredients banned in California

3, Nov, 2023 | Sector Chemical Compliance

On 1 January 2027, a new law will come into force in California banning the use of more than two dozen cosmetic ingredients.

The substances concerned (a total of 26) will be banned due to their worrying toxicological profile; in fact, they are already banned in many regions of the world for this very reason.

Among the banned substances are:

– Lilial – Butylphenyl methylpropional (CAS no. 80-54-6)

– Trichloroacetic acid (CAS no. 76-03-9)

– Vinyl acetate (CAS no. 108-05-4)

– Anthraquinone (CAS no. 84-65-1)

– Perboric acids.
